Have Penguin 3.0 Update Affected Your Website Efforts?

It has been confirmed that Google's Penguin 3.0 update went live on Friday, October 17.  This new update affects 1.0% of all Google search queries and centers on link-quality across the internet. 

While the majority of the update seemed to go live rather quickly, Google has commented that the full release will continue to go out for several more weeks. 

Penguin 3.0 was a very anticipated update. With the way Penguin works, websites that were previously penalized by Penguin and made changes to comply with Google standards, were not able to know if their changes worked until this new Penguin release.

The latest update goal is to reduce the amount of spam on the internet, offering a better search experience for users while minimizing spam. Google announced the new launch on Search Engine Land, where it was named Google Penguin 3.0. Penguin 3.0 is estimated to only impact one percent of search queries, a significant drop from the 3.1 percent of queries that were affected by Google Penguin when it first launched in April 2012. As with any new algorithm change, however, businesses are eager to learn as much as possible about the changes in order to shift their own marketing efforts if necessary. While there isn't much information about the new release, here's what we know at this point.

Spammy Links are Targeted

After being dramatically impacted by previous Penguin updates, many businesses worked hard to clean up their sites. Google was especially interested in cleaning up results by penalizing links that were spammy in nature. Many people might be mad at Google, but the truth is that their new changes may be a positive change and new opportunities for websites that are optimized correctly. Google is just doing its job, and that is cleaning the internet of spam.

The new Panda update literally rewards websites that work hard on optimizing, providing relevant content, developing their brands and putting their customers first. Quality content and Social integration continue to be the key components looked by the search engines.

Many SEO agencies just try to ‘beat’ the algorithm with tricks, spam, and schemes. They are being penalized and by this time probably lost their rankings that their websites had.

Customers always ask, Is it really possible to go back on top or place on the top search engines. The answer is YES. But, there is not an immediate solution. A relevant campaign with a solid preparation and good old SEO will do the trick. It may take a bit longer than usual, but results would be more satisfactory in the long run. If this is done right, you don’t have to dread future algorithm changes.
